@Matt – I agree with ClassPro & ClassicalGuy – I specifically don’t rely on my bank balance because it’s not accurate. Say I have $1500 in my checking account and I know that my rent for $1150 will auto-withdraw tomorrow, so I know with a little math that that will leave me with $350. But, say I forgot that I wrote a check last week for $300 and sent it via snail mail – well that’s not reflected in my account anywhere so I go ahead a spend $100 on something thinking I had $350 in my account, but actually I only have $50, so when the check for $300 shows up, it’ll bounce.
